All the controls for the Atlas can be accessed using the menu button at the top left of the screen.
Select a species to display from the drop-down list and then close the menu, the map will then display the distribution of records for the selected species. On the right of the screen is the "Species Information" bar, which when opened will display a photo (if available) of the current species. By clicking/touching the button a second box will open giving Details on identification, ecology, habitats and conservation status.
By default the map will show the distribution of records for the selected species in 10km grid squares. To change the resolution of the displayed records first select the "Grids" option in the menu and then the desired resolution (to display records at 1km resolution the map has to be zoomed in).
Values in red are total number of records for that grid square.
When "All" is selected in the Species selector the blue numbers are the total number of species recorded in that square. Click or touch the square to display a list of the species recorded and the number of observations of each.
The number of images in the species information box corresponds to the number of species in the current map extent.
