The Sussex Biodiversity Record Centre provides a biodiversity enquiry service, also known as a data search. The information presented in an SxBRC enquiry response is made as reader-friendly as possible, with explanations given of the terms used and legislation cited.

What's included in an Enquiry Response?
- A Rare Species Inventory report.
- A Protected Species Register report.
- A Sussex BAP Species Inventory report.
- A Sussex Invasive Alien Species Report.
- A Sussex Bird Inventory report
- A Sussex Environmental Survey Directory report.
- A printed map showing the boundaries of sites and habitats relevant to the enquiry area
- Citation sheets for relevant local, national and international wildlife sites such as SSSIs, SNCIs, SPAs and SACs.
- Summary sheets for habitats flagged up in the map showing the relevance of the habitat both nationally and within a Sussex context.
- Explanation sheets on rarity, protection, national site designations, county wildlife site systems and grid references.
For SxBRC staff to undertake an enquiry on your behalf you will need to fill out an information request form. This is downloadable as an interactive PDF. If you have difficutlies downloading, viewing or completing the form, please get in touch. Please either post or fax the completed form to us with a map showing the area for which you require information.
We endeavour to respond to your request within five working days of receiving your information request form. An administrative fee is applicable to commercial enquiries, please see our charging policy for details of this fee.
